Ice Fishing

Trophy "Eyes" through the Ice

Lake Winnipeg is the hottest, hardwater walleye fishery on the planet. The world's 10th largest freshwater lake can be intimidating to fish, especially for first timers. We also guide people that are already familiar with this lake, but would like a little more insight on techniques, and the opportunity to fish some non-traditional areas. Lake Winnipeg is the second largest watershed in Canada, including 4 provinces and 4 states in its drainage area. For a huge lake of 234 miles (377 km) in length, it is a relatively shallow lake. We normally fish between 3 and 21 feet of water.

On an average day, you can expect to catch between 8 and 25 fish that range from 18 to 28 inches. The largest walleye caught by our guests last year was 32 inches long and weighed over 14 pounds. With small heads and plump gold to emerald green backs, it's no wonder they are called "greenbacks" and "footballs". Many master anglers are caught every year, and Manitoba has a great Master Angler Program for those wanting to get their name printed in the record book. From first ice in December, to the end of the season on March 31st, we are on the ice 6 to 7 days a week and always have a handle on what is happening out there.

We work with large groups up to 100 people, and can also provide 1 on 1 instruction. We can custom design a trip for your needs, including a traditional "shore lunch" on the lake if you would like.

Give us a call or email us for more information.
On Facebook, we maintain the Lake Winnipeg Ice Fishing page.
